CGT campaign

On Wednesday, I fired off various emails to politicians "venting my spleen" about the retrograde steps to increase CGT on business assets.
The response has been interesting:

  • Jeremy Hunt - my local Conservative MP - replied within one hour
  • David Cameron - Leader of the Conservative Party - replied within one day
  • Gordon Brown - Labour Prime Minister - awaiting reply
  • Stephen Timms - "Small Business" Minister - awaiting reply
I'll keep you posted on progress. You can read the replies received to date on the Comments section of my original post.

I note that the Number 10 e-petition (see below) has so far received 1287 signings. Let's hope someone takes note...

Thanks Richard for the mention of our petition. We are now at over 3000 signatories after less than 48 hours of the petition being authorised and going live. Mark Prisk MP has promised me that the Conservatives are looking closely at the this and will be responding shortly.

Let's hope that Alistair Darling will see just how detrimetal this proposed change will be think again before abolishing taper relief - probably the best incentive to enterprise of the last 10 years
