Sectra bags £31m NHS deal

(By Anthony Miller) Swedish medical systems software player, Sectra, has won a £31m contract to provide a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) in Northern Ireland. Nearly half the work is to be subcontracted. To be perfectly honest, I hadn’t heard of Sectra before and will spare you the joke that all their systems are self-assembly from flat-pack. (OK, I won’t.) I’m assuming this is all part of the NPfIT but am trying to find out more, especially who will be the systems integrator on the deal. I also understand CSC has won a £14m NPfIT contract to provide a document management systems to the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It seems Healthcare remains one of the few buoyant segments in an otherwise ‘challenged’ IT market.
