(By Richard Holway) BPO followers will be interested to read the article Mouchel sees net gain in taking new route into schools in The Times today. Mouchel are a growing force in the BPO – particularly public sector/local authority BPO sectors. In Aug 07 they acquired HBS from PE firm Terra Firma for £46.2m. This came after HBS had won the Somerset where it was a partner of IBM. The multi-council South West One transformation and shared services deal is worth £400 million over ten years. Mouchel followed this up buying Farnham-based public sector consultants Hedra for £50m in Aug 08.
The latest Player rankings from Ovum lists Mouchel as the #6 supplier of SITS services to the UK public sector market place with £111m of its £134m SITS UK revenues in the year to 31st Jul 07 coming from local government.
There has been rumour (nothing more, I should add!) that Mouchel might buy troubled Liberata.
